Last week, The Administrator released Ten Things To Do During The Spring Season. The goal of this article was to highlight ten club “to dos” before the start of the fall season. While the post was a work of art (if I do say so myself), it missed a couple important club efforts, specifically the “State Of The Club Update”.
What Is A State Of The Club Update
Think of the State Of The Club Update as a club-focused version of the State Of The Union Address (without all the clapping, promises, and of course politics). This document is instead, a recap of all the ups and downs which the club has faced in the past year, as well as the position in which the organization currently finds itself.
The goal of the State Of The Club Update is to inform your members of the club’s past and present projects, programs, and activities. It is a comprehensive update, designed to both inform and encourage your club members regarding the future of the club.
The value of this club update is its ability to connect club members and the governing body. An organization would be well served to ask for comments and suggestions in regards to the update. This will allow members to offer their feedback, creating a sense of community within the club. This will help the organization grow in line with what the club values, leading to a better run organization and increased player and family retention, resulting in higher registration numbers and happier members.
The mediums through which your State Of The Club Update is delivered are numerous (thanks to your website and registration provider). Mass targeted email blasts coupled with a newsletter release are perfect for the initial release within the club. By posting the state of the club release on your website, the organization can release the update to the world. Couple this website update, with a Syndicated Feed (RSS) or a club forum, and you provide a simple solution for feedback.
The Administrator wants to know if your club uses the State Of The Union Update. Has your organization received valuable feedback and realized club benefits by releasing this document? Post a comment below, send an email to Jon@bluesombrero.com, or call 404-835-0305.
